Pastoris: Transhumance, Memory, and Words That Connect Territories

Apartamentos Rurales Braña La Code is collaborating in the presentation and subsequent discussion of Pastoris in Somiedo, a film that finds in transhumance a powerful link between territories, landscapes, and cultures.

Some paths do more than lead from one place to another. For centuries, transhumant routes were also channels of exchange. Flocks travelled along them, but so did people, knowledge, customs, stories, and words.

Transhumance was a way of relating to the land and of building a shared culture among communities separated by mountains, valleys, and hundreds of miles.

Holiday accommodation in traditional cabins

The hosts of Braña La Code, always faithful to their philosophy "a natural way of camping", are pioneers in the rural tourism in Asturias.

They are pleased to show you how the people of Somiedo and the Vaqueiros de Alzada have lived until the first decades of the last century. To achieve this, they have built 6 teito cabins, each one representing a valley of Somiedo in this incomparable landscape of Valle de Lago.

This group of cabins represents a "braña" with its own fountain, and is one of the best examples of Somiedo's ethnographic heritage.

From the cabins you can set out on the most interesting routes, walking, cycling, on horseback, with an official guide from the Principality of Asturias.

Guided horse-riding routes departing from our own premises — an ideal experience for enjoying nature with the whole family!

Activity provided and managed by Rutas a Caballo El Chugarín (Registration TA064)
